Yes there is a bend in the knees but it is not a squat at all, it is a hip-hinging movement. Its not going to help you burn more fat, but its a good addition to a workout (plus kettlebells are the coolest thing since sliced bread). The only way to ‘burn fat’ is use more calories than you take it – some things are more efficient than other, but nothing burns fat itself. Looks like fun though

I use a heavy dumbell to do that exercise simply because in my home gym I don’t have any Kettle bells. I am pushing 60 and I have been using that exercise in my routine and have had great results doing it. I have never been injured doing this particular movent because it is smooth. Compound movements combined with speed burn fat and build muscle. I have been working well over four 4 decades and trust me this is something you want to incorporate into your fitness program.

You don’t need to go to a gym to do it though, it would be a much better investment to get your own weights than paying for a gym membership, in my opinion.
Maybe not kettlebells since they’re quite expensive and their weight isn’t adjustable as far as I know. But I’m sure any kettlebell exercise can be successfully be done using free weights(dumbells).
